2. Transportation

In Nagoya, the common method is move around is taking a car or use taxi, but the city has a very good transportation service. There aren't many places you cannot go. For example, they have 4 different subway lines running in the city, as well as numerous number of city bus routes.

The subway system in Nagoya is quite developed. There are four different lines, Higashiyama, Meijo, Tsurumai, Sakuradouri.

Higashitama is the oldest line and I used to see a round shaped, yellow colored trains running. The line began to operate back in

2.3 Nagoya Railways (Meitetsu)

Nagoya Railways is privately owned and operated. Their trains are usually painted in red and white.

I cannot talk about Japan without it.

The Japan Railways Company was owned by government and privatalized in 1980s. There was only one company but now they have 4 divisions and each of them are operated independently.
