Elgin, TX

1871年にHouston and Texas Central鉄道がGrasscockという名前の信号所を作ったのが始まりで、 Elginという名前は鉄道会社の測量士から付けられました。1886年にはMKTも通るようになり、綿花、羊毛、家畜の出荷地点になりました。1890年には人口1,100名でした。Hot Sausageを売るお店が有名になり、"Hot Sausage Capital of Texas"の名前を持っています。(2015年9月訪問)

  29. Miller-Gillum House: Local contractor James Clinton Miller built this home in 1910. It was sold in 1923 to rancher and merchant Wallace R. Gillum, who also served as school board members, alderman, and mayor of Elgin. The eclectic Victorian-era residence exhibits elements of both the Queen Anne and colonial revival styles.
