Introduction: Every year I take my wife to eat buckwheat noodles, we have been to Nakatsugawa for the last several years and this year we want to try at different location. I have never been to Takayama, a popular sightseeing place in Japan so here I go.
Waking up around 5:30am as usual, I was concerning the heavy rain over the last couple of days in that area because the train halted operations and it may repeat today. The weather condition shows there is no more such concern. Looking out the window, the sky was sunny and the weather is expected to be cloudy all day there. I get ready for the day and left home at 8:00am on my bike, parked and used a coin locker to store my helmet and bike gear. Walking to Ozone station and joined with my wife, passed the gate, hopped on a local train leaving at 8:23am and it moved smoothly, and arriving at Nagoya terminal 15 minutes later.
Transferring to another platform for the connection and saw many people already there. The express train we are boarding came in about 5 minutes before departure time. There are a lot of foreign visitors with big bags in line as well. Going to mountain area of Japan for trekking are getting popular these days.
The train left Nagoya on time and began moving backwards. It is because the train running to Gifu first, then switch back to Takayama Line. The last time I took this route was when I went to Toyama for a job interview about 10 years ago. Since then the JR central updated the train and now it a diesel-electric hybrid.
The train arrived at Gifu on time at 9:00am, and began heading toward Takayama
After getting off the train, we walked out from the building. Takayama is a tourist destination so there were a lot of foreign visitors walking around. We decided.

The train ride back was smooth but the car did not have many people compare to the morning. Maybe people enjoy their day until evening, maybe after dinner. It reached Gifu on time at 6:40pm then switched the travelling direction backwards The outside was getting dark over every minute. It used be still bright until 8:00pm but the season is changing
After arriving back to Nagoya, we hopped on a local train leaving at 7:13pm, and arrived at Ozone about 15 minutes later. We biked to the same restaurant where we had dinner to cerebrate wife's b-day, to catch up first anniversary which we both forgot. Had dinner, we had hamburger steak dinner and other one. Coming home after 9:30pm, I stayed up until 10:30pm then went to bed.
